Dr. Defog-It foggy window and window condensation repair

Dr. Defog-It Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does it cost to repair a foggy window?
A: Defogging a window costs approximately 1/2 to 1/10 the cost of replacement, depending on the size of the unit.

Q: What is the warranty on service?
A: We offer a 20 year warranty on any windows we repair.

Q: How long have you been in business?
A: Dr. Defog-It has been in business for 3 years, but our parent company Broco Glass Group has been in business for almost 30 years.

Q: How long have you been using this process?
A: We have been using this window condensation repair process for 3 years. Thousands of windows have been repaired with a less than 5% failure rate.

Q: Can you do my skylights?
A: No, we do vertical glass only.

Q: Can you do my patio doors?
A: Patio doors are constructed with tempered glass which is four to five times stronger than regular glass. To eliminate the danger of sharp edges when broken, temepered glass is designed to shatter into small pieces when broken, and cannot be drilled.

We can remove window condensation in patio doors, as they can be vented through frame. Please consult with your local Dr. Defog-It dealer.

Q: Can you fix my Low E, heat mirror or other specialty glass?
A: Specialty glass needs to be analyzed on a case by case basis. Please consult your local Dr. Defog-It dealer. Keep in mind, 95% of all glass is regular annealed glass and can be fixed.

Q: My car windows constantly fog up, can you fix them?
A: No, venting is for double glazed sealed units only.

Q: Does your process remove the stains inside the glass?
A: No. The stains are pitted into the glass due to the residue from the desiccants now mixed with the moisture in the frame. Our process removes the moisture only. Stains take a couple of years to appear once condensation begins. Preventative maintenance is key.

Q: Will this process stop the moisture forming on single glazed windows?
A: No. This is a problem not related to the windows, it is related to excess humidity in the house. If left untreated, this can cause a toxic mould to grow.

Q: I live on the 10th floor, can you help me?
A: Yes, our process is done from the inside, eliminating the need for cranes, ladders, are scaffolding. This eliminates a lot of cost.

Q: I am selling my house and I have one window to fix, can you help me?
A: Yes, though venting may take weeks to dry so we suggest sealed unit replacement, which we also do.
